Stone Tile Floors Beautiful but Hard to Clean! #realestatetips #propertybrothers

Stone tile floors are very popular with homeowners and tenants, however they can be very difficult to keep clean. We have owned a 1 bedroom ground floor condominium for 30 years. The previous owner upgraded the kitchen floor from vinyl to a gorgeous red stone tile. Our most recent tenant was a couple with 2 small children, so they were very tough on the floors. The cream-colored grout turned black over a 3-year tenancy. We decided to try an organic solution that worked on stone tile floors in a different rental condominium.

We made a paste of baking soda and hydrogenperoxide. Apply the paste to the grout and leave it on for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, use an old toothpaste to gently scrub the grout. Use a wet cloth to wipe up the excess.

Back to our dirty red stone tile floor — since the area is so large, we decided to hire a contractor to clean the grout. He suggested adding a white sealant after the cleaning. We paid $345 and we are very pleased with the results!
